School Leadership
Team (SLT)

The School Leadership Team (SLT) is an advisory committee mandated by New York State and funded by the NYC Department of Education in accordance with Chancellor's Regulation A-655. The SLT provides a structure for school-based decision making and the development of a collaborative school culture. The members develop educational policies for their school and align resources to those policies. In addition, they provide ongoing evaluations and assessments of a school’s educational programs and their effect on student achievement. This committee is comprised of school administration including the principal, the PTA president, elected teaching staff, elected parent representatives and the UFT Representative.

The SLT in each school is composed of an equal number of parents and staff and must meet at least once a month. In accordance with rules and regulations established by the Chancellor, these members work together to develop the school’s Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP)and ensuring that it is aligned with the school-based budget.

The SLT serves as an important channel of communication among the school administration, teaching and support staff, and the parent body. The committee discusses and makes decisions on issues as they arise. In recent years, the SLT has made recommendations on art programs, providing guidelines for a wellness policy, science fair, and integrating technology into the classrooms.

Monthly SLT meetings are open to all for observation, but only SLT members may participate. If you have any concerns, please submit it in writing to the SLT mailbox in the PTA office before meetings. Elections for family positions are held annually at the May PTA meeting.
