PS 6, The Lillie Devereaux Blake School, founded in 1894 is a public elementary school located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. 


images-2PS 6 is holding it’s inaugural 4th Grade Science Extravaganza on Thursday, February 11, 2016.

We are very excited to see what kinds of experiments, inventions and other science projects they have been working on. The students will present their science projects to PS 6 community as well as invited scientists after drop off on Thursday, February 11.

Annual Auction

auctionPS 6 will hold its annual Auction this spring. Last year, with your help, we were able to provide invaluable enhancements to our children’s education. Assistant teachers in every classroom, technological upgrades, and specialty arts programs are just a few of the things your generous donation helped us afford.

By donating, you will be making a tax-deductible contribution and be included in all marketing materials including the auction journal and PS 6 website,which is viewed by the entire PS 6 community, including over one thousand parents and friends of the school. PS 6 has an involved and passionate group of parents who will actively support the businesses who support our school.

Vision Screening

visionAs part of the health assessment program NYCDOE requires vision screening for students K, 1, 3 and 5 as well as all new admits and students with IEPs. During the next two weeks students in grades 3 and 5 along with any new admits in grades 2 & 4 as well as any students with IEPs in grades 2 & 4 will be screened by school personnel who have been trained by the Office of Student Health.
Grades K and 1 will be screened by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) during the first week of February.
A letter will be sent home if your child does not pass the screening, it is suggested that you follow up with your eye doctor/ophthalmologist and share the results from the doctor’s visit with the school. If you need assistance locating a doctor please reach out to Sanober Khan.

Peer Mediation

peer mediatorsWe are excited to announce the launch of our PS 6 Peer Mediation Program. Fourth and fifth grade students will have a chance to develop their interpersonal skills as they become trained mediators in our school. It is also a wonderful opportunity for students to be an active participant in our school community, helping younger students proactively problem solve minor issues, problems and conflicts.


Beethoven’s 5th Symphony


On Saturday February 6th at 2 pm,  The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony is inviting PS 6 5th graders to sit among its musicians in New York City’s acclaimed DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Mary Cary Flagler Hall. This is a FREE concert, but the experience is priceless!

Where: DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Mary Cary Flagler Hall (450 West 37th Street, between 9th and 10th Aves.)

When:  February 6th, 2016; 1:30 pm check-in begins, performance runs from 2 pm to 3:30 pm
